Questioning the system. im surprised they didnt yell at you and cut up your concession card cause you challenged their system. you just know whats going on through the connex peoples heads when they talk to you... ie "Con....conne...cunnelingus" "mmm skittles" "Im wearing pants! :)" "is it the big hand or small one that does minutes."
Fare evaders and greedy connex execs are the problem. The 8.50 concession card is a fee i gladly pay, but paying for fare evaders because melbourne thinks it should keeep the pretty little trams is ridiculous. THEY ARE SLOW AND F*CK UP THE REAL TRAFFIC. why doesnt melbourne employ a few of those graduate urban planners that we educate every year and set them to work redesigning the city so we can improve public access with BUSES(or hopefully jetpacks). Buses are a far superior both in keeping our streets less congested and beign able to reach a wider area. And now with the welcome arrival of the sugar bus( i love saying that makes me think of kisses) they are even more environmentally friendly than trams which was the only thing they had going for them in my books (i have many in my study that smells of cognac and dark mahogany).
And thanks to Premier Jeff Kennet public transport is essentially already free to those hundreds of people out there who arent honest and therefore dont follow the metcard "honesty system" like good little boys and girls. Its a system designed for buses which is why they work so well on them... NOT TRAMS AND TRAINS. A slightly modified system would allow trams and trains to utilise the practicality that is the metcard idealogy. They should simply require you to have a prebought ticket to get in through the doors onto the platform(and not leave the gates open like they do now) and then possibly even onto the train. While i hate trams they could also utilise this system by redesigning the insides to be more like buses, but why would you. we are already half set up for this move so why dont they do it. Because they dont care, connex is going fine on the profits they get from ripping off full fee paying travellers and even us concessioners. most businessmen/women buy daily zone 1,2 for $9.70. It would cost me $8.50 to park in the city and probably $3 to get there. Public transport is no longer the cheap option it should be to encourage us to use it to stop congestion on the roads. I would gladly pay $2 extra to be able to sit comfortably in my car and listen to my music and not have to deal with connex. also execs dont care cause the millions they lost on fare evasion is less than it would cost them to upgrade their faulty system. So they choose to be happy as they can comfortably send their kids to private schools and drive snazzy cars. All while poor people like us have to take public transport once in a while and deal with the customer-unfriendly connex people who are sour cause they are being paid bare minimum wage for a job that done properly deserves much more. But nothing is ever gonna happen because i will never do anything about it, cause ill be busy with airlines that are still quite good. But please somebody do something...... for the good of the people!!!!!!!
